Welcome to The Spitfire Makers Charitable Trust

The year 2020 marked the 80th Anniversary of the bombing of the Vickers Supermarine Factories at Woolston in September 1940 and the subsequent dispersal of Spitfire production to more than 30 sites in and around Southampton.

On 23rd February 2020, a capacity audience of 140 people attended the launch of the Spitfire Makers project at the Shirley Parish Hall in Southampton, a former secret production site.  With support from the Southampton community and beyond, The Spitfire Makers Charitable Trust was formed on 5th March 2020.

We are very grateful to the owners of the photographs used in this website. Every effort has been made to identify and acknowledge ownership and seek permissions where possible. If you have any issues with the use of any of the photos please contact us.
